Inactive Status

No Indigenous branch of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has been created. Some adjacent federal activity exists in the broader space of Indigenous intellectual property and traditional knowledge protection, including the Indigenous Intellectual Property Program (IIPP) administered by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), and CIPO training and awareness materials developed in partnership with Indigenous organizations. These activities support Indigenous engagement with Canada’s existing IP system but do not constitute the creation of a dedicated Indigenous branch within CIPO as call 13 specifies.
